Monologue of a Pair of UGG Boots
Feb 8th
Hello everyone! I’m a pair of UGG boots! Recently I am very popular and you may see me at every
street in every city all over the America, Europe and Asia. And maybe even now you are wearing a pair of me! You may regard me as a sudden hit in fashion but actually I am much older than all of you! I was born after the World War I and became widespread in Australia.
I was first named with “Ugly Boots” which made me very unhappy. Am I ugly? Of course not! But later on, the lovely Australians sweetly nicknamed me “UGG Boots“. UGG – I love this name so it was called generation after generation.
I was first used by aviators during World War I, who referred to me as “fug boots”, and that I was present in rural regions of Australia during the 1920s. I am traditionally made from sheepskin. The wool is tanned into the leather, and the upper part of me is assembled with the fleece on the inside. When did I first start being manufactured by factories? It was 1933 that I was being manufactured by Blue Mountains UGG Boots, and Mortels Sheepskin Factory also started making me from the late 1950s.
I became a popular option for competitive surfers who used me to keep their feet warm after exiting from the surf in the 1960s. And in 1979, a young surfer who called Brian Smith started selling the boots in the United States; he had a sense of business that soon I became very popular in America because of my comfortableness and convenience and he also became very rich afterwards. I became a necessity for every surfer in California and all over the America in the 1980s.
There are 2 famous brands which currently manufacture me; they are UGG Australia and Yellow Earth. The first one is an American company and the second one is an Australia company. There are some trademark controversies between them which I didn’t care very much.
Recently it was the celebrities in Hollywood that helped me become every girl’s love all over the world. I felt so honored that I can be worn by great stars and fashion girls such as Paris Helton and Lindsay Lohan. What’s more, I am unisex! A lot of boys also wear me as a fashion. Wearing a pair of jeans and put them inside me is a very fashion style.
